FMR’s beer needs a name by April 1!

With tap water in the Twin Cities coming right from the Mississippi River, theres a strong connection between the health and water quality of the river and the quality of our local beers. The connection, then, between FMRs work and local beer is also strong.

One awesome and popular local brewery, Fulton Beer, gets this connection very clearly. They have stepped up to do a special garage series beer in honor of FMRs 20th Anniversary, and it needs a name!

The beer is going to be a mild, which doesnt mean mild taste. Some descriptions of this style include mild but not meek and a light-flavored, malt-accented beer that is ... refreshing, yet flavorful. The term mild comes from its contrast to bitter, another traditional British pub style of beer.

As for a name, were looking for something that makes the connection between FMRs mission to protect the Mississippi River with Fultons to brew outstanding beer.

E-mail your name suggestions to Heather at hhaynes@fmr.org by April 1st to get them in the mix. Well choose a name by April 8th, and if yours is chosen its worth two bombers (750 ml bottles) of this very special brew.

With a one-day release in the Fulton tap room on May 25th, and a limited release to pubs and liquor stores around town, youll want to stay tuned to FMRs web site and Mississippi Messages email newsletters to ensure you get a taste, pick up a few bottles, and get your friends on board to show support for Fulton Beer and Friends of the Mississippi River, two local organizations who both care deeply about our river.
